On Tuesday, June 8th at 3pm, during the City Council Work Session, Black Faith Leaders are hosting a community Council Meeting Watch at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 237 E. Fifth Street. Community members are encouraged to use the link above to sign up for comment and show up to voice their collective concern about the current no-knock ordinance being considered by Council.

Written comment can also be submitted through the above link for those who are unable to attend. A template that includes background on the ordinance and email addresses for council members can be accessed here. Please contact City Council today to let them know that they must reinstate the 15 second minimum wait period and pass the ban on no-knock warrants!

Read the demands.

These our the demands for #LPDAccountablity provided to elected officials in May 2019. We are still demanding these changes as the Fraternal Order of Police and city representatives are currently negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement that will govern many of the processes that inhibit transparency and accountability.

We are currently lobbying City Council to immediately pass legislation to:

1) Ban no-knock warrants reinstating the 15 second minimum wait period.

2) Require the release of body camera footage within 3 days of a critical or use of force incident.

3) Fund the Citizen Liaison position as recommended by the Mayor’s Commission on Racial Justice to improve the complaint process available for citizens regarding their interactions with the Lexington Police Department.
